In the end, you need to choose the next five people to be tagged and link to their web journals. Don't forget to leave a comment in their blog or journal that says "You have been tagged" (assuming they take comments) and tell them to read yours.
I don’t really have werid habits as much as abnormal ones… or is that the same thing? Thanks, Neal and Maggie, for making us think of all these ways we are abnormal in our daily lives.

1. I cannot sleep until I have finished reading. Plots from books get in my head and I dream of the storyline unless I have finished the book.

2. I have a love of interior design. When I get bored I mentally redecorate the rooms of other people’s houses.

3. I often finger spell words when I am trying to remember something. For example if I need to get toothpaste from the store I will spell it over and over in a effort to remember it.

4. I will sometimes say the same thing that someone else has said without my hearing it. Beau claims I am psychic.

5. I can only sleep if my Left ear is in the pillow. This is because I can only sleep in complete silence and I can only hear out of my left ear.

I only have a few people that I can Tag. So Anne and Brenda if you dare to bare your five weird habits… GO!

Moderation

January is the Diet Month. Millions of people promise to lose weight after holidays each year. Each year most of those people fail. Now the reason I am talking about this is that over the last five years I have been one of those people. This year I have decided to change the way I think about losing weight. Instead of dieting for a few months (or weeks) and getting on a scale to check my weight, I am going to focus on being healthy for the full year.
We are told to do so many things in our daily lives to make us live longer and be more resistant to illness. From hand washing to exercise there are a lot of things we should be doing in our daily lives. I’ve decided that I will be more likely to lose weight and keep it off if I started to just be more healthy in all things For me this means drinking more water, remembering to take my vitamins, and being more physical throughout the day,
I have two big issues I need to work on for myself. The first is that I am an unrepentant Couch potato. I read and watch television more than I probably should. The second is that I am a caffeine junkie. If I don’t get my daily soda and coffee I become really, really grumpy.
I am a big believe in doing all things in moderation. There is no reason you can’t have a piece of cake if you don’t eat the whole cake! Drinking in moderation is actually good for you. Coffee has been proven to make you smarter if don’t over indulge. Indulging in your favorite fatty foods once a month is a great way to keep yourself from craving them.
Since I have belived in this for a very long time I have decided to branch out this system to some other things I am not fond of. Exercise is one of my least favorite things. I hate to run. I hate to play sports. So this year I have decided that Exercise in moderation is necessary Of course Psycho claims that sex is the one thing you should never do in moderation, his reasoning is that its SO good for you: you should do it all the time. (He may just kill me yet)
So be like me and kick the diet habit. There is no lifetime guarantee on diets and if you are anything like me you can't stand to stay on one for long. You are the only person who can help yourself live a long and healthy life.

Post Christmas,. I have even heard of this elusive Shopping Therapy. . Maybe if you have unlimited money and time shopping would be fun.
For me shopping is a study of guilt. If I don’t get a gift for everyone that is personal and fun, Guilt... If one of my kids has more presents than the other one Guilt, if I don’t find an awesome gift for my husband I will feel GUILT. If I spend too much money or not enough money I will wallow in Guilt.
If that was not enough of a reason to dislike shopping there are always the crowds and the rude shop people. The people alone are enough to send me to the mental ward.
You may understand why I hate shopping at Christmas time. But what about the rest of the year? I deal with a budget, growing kids, (meaning they always need food and clothes) a house that always needs some kind of work and a lack of fashionable clothes. Shopping is never the lovely dream sequence that movies love to make it out to be. It’s often a battle of “I want this Mommy!”, and, “Can I really afford new Shoes when the kids need new clothes?” Now I ask you … Does shopping on a budget ever get fun? True, there is that elusive shoppers high that you get from finding the perfect item 50% off . I fondly remember those lovely times.
Please send me a million dollars so I may actually have FUN shopping. I can close down she mall and shop all alone… with no budget.

What have YOU been reading lately?

Ever since I read Ann Rice as a teenager I have been addicted to vampire novels. I have read almost all of Rice’s older novels but I found that some of the more recent novels to be long winded and overly depressing. Acting on a tip from a friend I read the first of The Anita Blake series “Guilty Pleasures” by Laurall K. Hamilton, four years ago. This series is about a woman vampire hunter known as the Executioner (think of an R rated Buffy). Since that fateful day I have become a die hard Laurall K. Hamilton fan. I am awaiting the eleventh book in the series due out in February.

While I wait for more Anita Blake fixes. I have been reading other vampire series. I started with Charlaine Harris’s “Southern Vampire” series. This series is a more humorous take on the genre. It’s about a barmaid in Louisiana who can read minds. Now since it has proven to be impossible for her to date a normal guy she has started to date vampires. (No active brainwaves) Dead as a Doornail is the most recent of her five novels.

I have also read Mary Janice Davidson’s “Undead” series. This one is also a really fun lighthearted approach to vampire novels. I would recommend this one for a travel or escape from serious “brain food” novels. It’s about a girl who somehow becomes a vampire without being attacked. This causes her to have strange powers that convince the other vampires that she is the Queen of the Vampires. Think of it as a vampire queen, who only wants designer shoes.

The last vampire series I have read is a bit more serious than the last two. “The Vampire Huntress Legend” novels by L.A. Banks are a Buffy/Blade combo. The huntress must come to age without becoming corrupted by evil and evil can smell her coming. I’ve only read the first two novels of this series but it’s really intense.

Right now I am attempting to get away from my unfortunate addiction. I am reading an Oprah Book Club pick called “She’s Come Undone”, by Wally Lamb. I’ve been reduced to an Oprah pick! PLEASE help me kick the habit and suggest some awesome books!
I need HELP!

The Day My Life Changed

I don’t know how many people can say they know the day their lives changed forever. I can. November 8th 1994 was the day my life changed. I was seventeen and a senior in high school. This was the day two things happened to me. The first was that I met Psycho; the second was that my father died.
I look back now and wonder why two such different things happened on the same day. I met the man I would end up marrying on the same day I lost the most important man in my life. I learned a lot of things from losing my father so early in my life.
One is that you can never count on your life lasting for as long as you think it will. Always live life in a way that if you died tomorrow you would leave behind only love.
Never say “should have”, or “could have.” It’s the easiest way to get caught in the past. You can’t change what others have done only what you can do now.
Family is important, these people you spend your whole life with, who love you no matter what, are the ones who really count. My kids know about their grandfather. I make sure that I talk about him. Chance looks so much like him that my aunts and uncles are just amazed. My dad will never stop being a part of my life and I will always miss him

Be Polite, Save the World.

Has anyone else noticed that it is becoming more acceptable to be rude to others than to be polite? Everywhere you go people are surly and bad mannered. Service people are snappy and standoffish. Drivers are selfish and angry. Its commonplace to see people flip each other off for daring to pass or pull ahead in traffic. If you have ever attempted to change lanes in bumper to bumper traffic you know what I am talking about. If people were simply kinder, traffic would not be so stressful. You would turn on your signal and the person behind you would give you room without fist waving and yelling.
When did it become so acceptable to be rude? When did we stop expecting common human kindness and start accepting bad manners? We need to take some action to show we don’t appreciate being treated with anger. Don’t you remember your mom and grandma drilling good manners into you? Or even your teachers drilling the golden rule “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Is it really so hard to smile and be polite?
I realized the other day when someone was polite enough to let me turn in a traffic jam after waiting several moments for a opening that we can really only control the way we act. If each of us makes an effort to be more polite in our day to day life maybe it will rub off on others. At the very least we may be happier knowing that we are not causing more anger. Being polite and treating each other as humans should be the easiest thing you can do. It costs us nothing and gains us much peace.

Stop Graowing Up Already!

I’ve been noticing the colors of Fall this week. It seems that this year has gone by faster than normal. Christmas is right around the corner and my kids are making me feel older than they should.
Chance is nine now. I look at him and wonder how he got this big. It seems like yesterday that he was starting school. Now a seasoned vet at the school thing he is in Fourth grade. He is going to be as tall as me in one more year. (I know that’s not saying much- I’m only five foot two.) I worry about needing to look up to yell at my teenager. Will it make my threat less effective if I need to look up?
He is starting to get embarrassed by public affection from his parents. It’s a little scary when you are in that in between age, you still need mom and dad to give you a hug now and then but at the same time you don’t want to need them.
Faith on the other hand is a sweet darling four year old. She is innocence personalized but really cunning at getting her own way. She has a really independent streak and won’t do what anyone wants her to do. She has recently discovered that she can just sit there and say NO. Drives me crazy. She still thinks mom and dad rule the world. In her eyes we are the superheroes. Dad can fix any toy and mom and makes all bumps and scrapes better.
When you are a child and talk about being a parent you will promise yourself that you won’t say those annoying things that your parents say to you. Examples of this are the tried and true “Because I said so” and “I’m the mom and that’s why?” As often as I have tried to not say these, they make perfect sense now. Mom knows best after all. So I have finally given up. Now I can say “if you are going to cry I may as well spank you and give you something to cry about.” Or a variation of that.
When you have children you need to take the time to stop and really look at them. They grow up too fast. I feel as though I will blink and they will be moving out, no longer needing mom and dad to tuck them in and kiss them goodnight

Desperately seeking job advice

Well many times when I tell people that I am a stay at home mom and housewife I am faced with condescending looks from professionals and sympathiac looks from other moms. It all looks easy till you do it yourself. I put college on hold when my son was two because of money issues and have not regretted a moment of the time I have spent with my two children. But as the kids have gotten older I have realized that I need to start working. I am very hesitant about entering the workforce. Its not that leaving the kids will bother me, but more that I have no real marketable skills. Unless being a mom and wife is marketable somehow. I can cook and clean. Discipline kids. Make my husband budget his money and other household things around here. I just can’t see myself using those skills outside of the house.
Since I’m deaf, telephone work is out of the question. I don’t want a full time job right away because I’m worried about daycare. If you know how much daycare costs you’ll understand why. My daughter is in pre-school and will be on a half day school schedule for another year at least. So it limits my job options. I really don’t want to work in fast food. I am sure I will gain a ton of weight if I do. So as far as I can see it leaves working in a store or becoming a cleaning lady. I guess that’s what I get for not finishing college.

All My Husbands Fault

Well it all started when my husband got a Blog.
